The beginning, our DNA

Creativity, Agility and Information Technology

When Daniel Gerlach, Remo Viani and Stefano Viani founded Blackbit in 1989, they had no idea that the age of digitization was beginning. The arrival of the personal computer in prepress enabled the three founders to quickly make a name for themselves with desktop publishing in northern Germany.

In times when graphical user interfaces were revolutionary, network specialists were rare and the Internet had not yet been invented, the Blackbit founders had no choice but to acquire the necessary specialist and IT know-how themselves.

The company was shaped by its founding years: Creativity, agility, a passion for technology and an understanding of digital exploitation potential still form Blackbit's DNA today.

Our Company History

1989 - Company foundation
Founded by Daniel Gerlach, Remo Viani and Stefano Viani - desktop publishing at a time when PCs are revolutionizing prepress. Right from the start: Creativity, agility, IT expertise as Blackbit DNA.
1993-2003: Pivot to the web
In 1996, a web editing system is created (for Schleicher & Schüll, now GE, among others). 2003 we give up prepress - Blackbit reinvents itself.
1998-2010: Former e-commerce pioneer.
In 1998, we realized a B2B online store for Antonio Viani Importe. We build our own CMS, which is expanded to include a PIM and e-commerce framework in 2006, and are responsible for a successful content and commerce strategy for Viani until 2010.
From 2010: 3-C-Commerce model as a basis for consulting
Content → Conversation/Community → Conversion. Awards & partnerships: Innovation Award of the Initiative Mittelstand (several times), Innovation Award of the German Printing Industry, "Year of Advertising" (2013, 2014). Google Ads Partner (since 2008), xt:Commerce Solution Partner (2011), AWS Consulting Partner (2012), Pimcore Professional Partner (2013), HubSpot Partner (2016) and BVDW SEA Quality Certificate (since 2018).
Today.
Interdisciplinary teams in Göttingen, Berlin, Hamburg and Kyiv - close to customer benefits, close to implementation.
