Challenge

As part of the redesign of the company's presentation, the EXPRESSO team wanted more flexible design options for the shop front end. In addition, the shop system should allow for easily configurable segmentation by customer group (B2B vs. B2C), including differently configurable shipping cost regulations and payment methods.

Results

Successful system change: Blackbit set up a new online store based on the BigCommerce software-as-a-service solution, customized it according to the EXPRESSO team's requirements, and connected the powerful Pimcore X for user-friendly product information management.

The Company

Kassel-based EXPRESSO Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG helps people around the world to perform handling and transport tasks safely and healthily. Founded in 1939, the company is a leading premium manufacturer of ergonomic transport and lifting equipment thanks to its innovative strength and development expertise.

The Challenge: Preparing the Online Shop for New Requirements

As sales at the EXPRESSO online shop increased, the team wanted to integrate the shop more actively into its marketing activities. In particular, content management in the shop frontend needed to allow for more flexible display and design options. In addition, the family-owned company wanted comprehensive reports and a wide range of marketing tools. In order to provide B2B and B2C customers with the right information, the new shop system also needed to allow for easy segmentation by customer group, including differently configurable shipping cost regulations and payment methods.

The Initial Situation: High-performance Pimcore Shop

The starting point for the project was a high-performing shop based on the Pimcore e-commerce framework. The unique selling points and strengths of the previous shop, such as convenient product information management, filter options, the product configurator, and the ability to personalize the advertising signs on the hand trucks, were to be retained.

Blackbit opted for the elegant and feature-rich BigCommerce theme "Cornerstone" and optimized it for an exceptional user experience and ideal display on different screen sizes. This gave EXPRESSO a responsive shop that combines maximum flexibility for the operator with an optimal user experience. The existing product configurator, including personalization, was implemented as a Vue.JS component in the "Cornerstone" theme. This preserved the strengths of the old shop while introducing additional flexible design options through the Page Builder.

"Not only have our shop's strengths been successfully retained, but they have also been enhanced by a customer approach tailored to specific target groups. At the same time, the new technology simplifies our daily work with many useful functions – a real game changer!" says Rene Clobes, Digital Marketing Manager at EXPRESSO.

The Result: A Successful System Change With Greater Freedom of Design

Based on the BigCommerce software-as-a-service solution, Blackbit set up a new online store and customized it to the requirements of the EXPRESSO team. The powerful Pimcore X was connected for user-friendly product information management.
